  A beautiful, original entry into the “American Dream” epic sub genre. A Jewish architect who wants to build beautiful things struggles to assimilate into the ugly world of WASP American capitalism. Koyaanisqatsi meets There Will Be Blood. Incredible score. All performances are great. The storytelling is a bit too literary and heavy handed for me. The long run time is filled up with some truly jaw dropping epic moments but a lot of tedium too—no intermission and 15 more minutes cut out and it’s probably a stronger movie. Probably more of a 3.75 but I’m rounding up to 4
