Can’t help but feel so moved, inspired, awed by the people + ballroom movement, but you can feel the pain — the reality of what it meant to be gay or trans in NYC in the 80’s

There’s too much going on in this movie. It’s a very stressful viewing experience. The musical aspect was genuinely horrible and added a layer of viewing chaos I didn’t need. The songs were bad.
Is it fine to say Zoe Saldana kinda kills this? Good red velvet suit at one point. Also Selena Gomez’s lover is hot.
Wayy out there story and it’s impossible to separate from the criticism & all the horrible takes that Karla has posted.
It’s not an easy watch or recommended lol, but I think worth watching if you’re interested in what ppl are going on about. Shouldn’t win Oscars.

Really incredible movie. As a 60’s movie about the 1600’s, it feels incredibly relevant. An anti-establishment story about what you would do for your family, exposing those in power for how weak they really are, and a plead to our humanity.
On a lighter note, I’ll never take for granted being able to say “I’m going to kill myself” as a joke
