A writer of importance meets a criminal of unimportance and each looked at the other and saw - or thought they saw - the man they might have been: “It’s as if Perry and I grew up in the same house. And one day he stood up and went out the back door, while I went out the front.”

Were the paths that formed from the back door and front door respectively sins and successes of society or sins and successes of the individual?

A film that will envelop you in heavy metal (pace), sound distortion (displacement) and - finally - silence (stillness).

As a person with hearing impairment who wears hearing aids, I was particularly taken by the capturing of hearing difficulties in busy social settings. It is a discombobulating and isolating experience, the subtleties of which were well crafted in the scenes.

The film reminds me, as it hopefully will remind others who watch it, of the importance of stillness and understanding oneself as a transforming whole - not as something to be fixed.
