Jarhead seems to stray away from the idea of what butality can come from war and the scars that battle can leave. But, instead focusses on what the mere idea of war can do to a man. We don't even get to see a single kill in the movie. And yet, by the end these men are broken beyond repair. Constantly submerged in the blackened waters of conflict, drowning.

Man, this film is just purely lovely. The amount of care you can feel, whether from the characters or the animation itself, is great.
Character's have a great sence of dimension to them, being childlike and innocent, to being parental and feeding their curiosity. We really get sunk in with that childhood imagination and wondermeant, a really sweet thing to focus on.
