I don't much like Paris (but adore France). And I think like most people I loathe mime and am bored by slapstick.
And yet I pretty much loved this movie set in Paris with mime and slapstick.
It is nice to watch something deeply silly and a bit poignant. The physical antics are impressively done. Reminiscent of Jacques Tati.
A favorite. I always love Werner, but this was riveting.
Treadwell was seeking transcendence, just like McCandless in "Into the Wild".
Enjoyed the beginning, but got tired of the perpetually drunk and charmless heroine. Marion Cotillard shows she is a great actress in the usual way of beautiful women, by being breathtakingly ugly twelve ways.
