Hidden Figures 2016
I dunno… I think trying fit history into art is really hard bcuz art is inherently romantic and history is nearly impossible to romanticize. However, history is also riddled with stories of human excellence and triumph and inspiration which deserve to be portrayed artfully.
Hidden Figures is pretty conventional in its approach to the period piece biopic. I think the script could’ve used a lil more TLC bcuz all of the performances are done really well, there’s just not too…

The Menu 2022
The horror trope where an intricate yet nefarious plan ensnares an unwitting victim until it’s horrifyingly too late (Wicker Man, Rosemary’s Baby, Midsommar, and yes, The Menu) is one of my absolute favorite tropes of all time!
But… Project 2025 kinda ruined that trope for me among other things I guess 🍔
