This obviously isn’t a direct (or at least very clear) commentary on sibling relationships but it made me so sad to see brothers that hated each other so much? I guess that’s a good sign for me. Whatever, Oz Perkins couldn’t pick a consistent tone for this, so why should I have to have a normal takeaway?!

I hesitate to compare them because I feel like each story has different purposes and strengths in their narrative choices but I feel like whether you prefer Furiosa or Fury Road will depend mostly on whether you prefer character driven epics or one long car chase that doesn’t let you breathe the whole time (meant as the highest of compliments). Truthfully I don’t even know what to say? Just overwhelming in its scale and magnitude and a powerhouse in performance. I’m sure I’ll have better and smarter things to say about all its themes etc upon future viewings but all I can say now is Denis Villeneuve is an all timer. On more than one occasion watching this I could feel myself getting emotional over what a feat this was in every way imaginable and how grateful I am that movies speak to me in the way that they do.
