Cure 1997
My initial thoughts right after watching most of my favourite movies is always something along the lines of ‘this is what movies were made for’ because my favourite movies all feel like they use the medium of film to convey something to you that you never could in any other way. All my favourite movies have an incredible, infinitely specific feeling that only they seem to be able to make me feel. I don’t know how to convey my thoughts about this movie, it just made me feel something so guttural I would feel wrong giving it anything but 5 stars.

The Apartment 1960
I have got to start giving more happy movies five stars damn it. My brain almost instinctively gave this 4.5 stars solely because it didn't have a depressing ending. I don’t know what it was exactly about this movie I loved so much. I’ve seen other comedies from the 50s and 60s but this one just feels so much more genuine and like everyone making it had a great time. Jack Lemmon is so good because he doesn't overplay everything…

Cure 1997
even on a third watch I still find new things to think about. A hypnotic film, no pun intended. I’ve been invested in movies, had my heart pounding during movies, been scared of movies, but nothing can replicate whatever it is this movie makes me feel. It’s awful, I love it. I was lucky to catch this in beautiful restored 4K in a theatre and the whole audience was dead silent after the 10min mark until the very end, not a…

Heat 1995
THAT SCORE. Slow quiet guitar and saxophone, wide night shots of LA and a bunch of bad people trying to make excuses because they can’t change. This gets exponentially better and better with every watch. Maybe just a great viewing experience - with friend’s and on a nice big tv in a dark basement - but I loved this so much man. It’s my third watch but some scenes still hit me very very hard. The writing is so great…

Dune: Part Two 2024
Do you think that Timothee Chalamet ever thought while he was making YouTube videos about modding Xbox 360 controllers that he’d one day give an Oscar worthy performance in the best sci-fi movie ever made?

David Lynch: The Art Life 2016
Rest in peace to my favourite person I’ll never meet. As ridiculous as it sounds I can’t help but see my life when looked at from afar in two parts. One before I ever knew of David lynch, and one after. I can’t say one single person has changed me as much as he and his films have. I keep writing sentences for this and erasing them because I can’t properly, or without accidentally sounding pretentious as shit, put into…
