Had occasion to think about this movie again today, which I hope more people seek out. I never posted this capsule that I wrote back in 2020 for MUBI’s annual double feature roundup as I was not especially happy with it then. But reading it now, I think I captured what sustained Les capricieux in my memory over these years, and what I find sustaining about the movie’s vision of the good life. May we all live so well.
