Ash 2025
Incredible use of effects, it had flavors of seventies big set fantasy sci-fi, like Alien with Lucas lighting and grip. Horrible storytelling though. Kind of unintelligible or incomplete. I'm also not sure if the stage was generative AI, practical, or really good blender work. One thing is for sure: It would be funny if hypebeasts brought back science fiction.

Barton Fink 1991
An incredible display of how to use a character to create a world, where everything from a mosquito, a desk, and a friendly next door neighbor means something to the story. My mode lately has been with stories like this one where symbolism and psychology creates more of the plot than a Campbell circle. There's something magical about watching a character get lost in their own sauce as the entire world becomes about their weird fucking problem, with only one or two sympathetic ears against a sea of objectified realism. Barton Fink is the epitome of that movie. The End.
