Meticulously made. I could feel the discomfort Hackman illustrated through this character. His desperation to maintain control but routine failure to achieve it. The dichotomy of being a savant at breaking into the most intimate parts of other people’s lives, but being so removed from a life itself that he can’t understand what he observes. I know his apartment and clothes are not supposed to be aspirational but I still found myself wanting them!

Vibrant!
Not just the gorgeous set design and cotton candy color palette, but the characters, personalities, and community that Sean Baker is so keen on exploring.
This movie was fully immersive, and to that I want to credit the editing and amazing performances. I really don’t logistically know how you get a kid so young to give a performance with such depth.
Willem Defoe playing a normal guy…talk about range!
