Masterful storytelling. So confident in its wordlessness, the empathic reach of its animal cast’s physical behaviour, and its full utilisation of Blender.
The animation doesn’t rival the standard of multi-million dollar studio fare, it blows it out of the water.

Reminiscent of some recent video games, it shares a particular design clause and narrative horizon with Thatgamecompany’s ‘Journey’. Similar to that game it has an immediate ethereal quality, present from its first frames. A quality it boasts u til the…

Expertly written and edited, Soderbergh & Koepp deliver an old fashioned espionage mystery-thriller that’s covertly about marriage and trust. Or:

But in its last minutes, Scorsese (literally) injects himself into the film and re-contextualises, while aligning past and present, the act of watching such a piece. And with that, the whole true-crime genre.

Shocked. One of the best musical biopics I’ve ever seen. Seriously fresh and inventive despite being so, so familiar. The chimp conceit really works, whether you know shit about Williams or not.
This is outrageously well directed coming from the guy behind The Greatest Showman.
Mental it exists, dunno who was expecting or asking for it, but fuck it, it’s here and it’s great.

May be blinded by a little bias though; been a fan of his since I was…
