Adolescence 2025
A young boy of 13 is arrested and charged with the murder of a female classmate. The most inept investigation you will ever see ensues. Seemingly important characters are introduced and then disappear forever. Dialogue is often clunky and the performances vary wildly.
It’s watchable enough I suppose, but based on its ratings I expected this to be excellent. It’s not. I’m not sure what all the praise for this is based upon. Felt mostly like more Netflix mediocrity to me.

Geez this was bad. I can’t quite fathom what everyone sees in it. Gets off to a decent start and then just completely face plants. No reason on earth this thing deserves or needs to be 2+ hours. 90 minutes of this is just absolutely nothing.
Watched this for movie night with my 83 year old mom, who said - and I quote: “They’ve just strung this out way too long.”

A Real Pain 2024
Boring and unfunny. I’m not sure what everyone is going on about with this. Eisenberg plays the same tedious character he always plays, and Culkin is obnoxious and irritating. It’s shot in the most basic way imaginable with absolutely zero style.
By the end I just wanted to get away from these two characters. It felt much longer than 90 minutes.

Not sure why it took me 20 years to watch this.
Two young boys are sexually abused by their little league coach. The film looks at the different effects this has on each of them. Disturbing, harrowing, emotional. Difficult to watch at times.
Strange to see young Brady Corbet here after just watching The Brutalist. Nice to see Michelle Trachtenberg - RIP.
