Feels like this was lifted right out of the early 1900s era of film. The vibes were unsettling thanks to the performances, the sets, the costume design, the musical score, and, my favorite, the camera work.

Dafoe, Rose-Depp, Hoult, and Taylor-Johnson were amazing. Skarsgard was terrifying and unrecognizable.

I am just so happy that this is a film that was actually made. It feels completely different than anything else from this year and I love it for that.

    The Zone of Interest

I don’t know what to give this and I’m not sure I ever will.

The sound design is legitimately haunting and the framing of shots will be stuck in my mind forever?

I teach the holocaust every year, and every year I get more and more students asking me if it even really happened. Most of the time, when I tell them yes, their follow up question is almost alway, “How?”

This movie answers that in a way I have never really been able to think of on my own.

No way in hell I wasn’t going to like this.

Loved the animation, music, and voice work.

    The dogs are very good.

Dani hadn’t seen this before! It’s been a long time since I have as well and it was still a great watch.

I think Mark Watney is easily Matt Damon’s most likable character. One of the easiest characters to root for too which helps the whole thing work as well as it does.

Not much to say that I haven’t seen others talk about ad nauseam. This film does a great job depicting that one loved one who can light up a room and all the good and bad that can come with that.

Kieran Culkin was a standout and Jesse Eisenberg did a pretty good job!
