Lee 2023
I don’t know much about Lee Miller but I’m so glad this film was made. We never get to see the Second World War from a woman’s point of view and I think the focus on the darker reality of liberated Paris was really powerful. I didn’t like some of the dialogue, structure and pacing choices but Kate Winslet was flawless, Marion Cotillard was haunting, and Andy Samberg and Alexander Skarsgård were great in roles we don’t normally see them play.

The Substance 2024
I originally rated this 3.5 but I can’t stop thinking about it so I changed it to 4. The most powerful depiction of the horrors of being a woman over the age of 21 I’ve seen since Barbie (just done in a much less wholesome way…). Demi getting the Golden Globe just feels so right.
