Truly one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. I’m very happy to have seen this in IMAX. Pure positives, such an intricate storyline with a plethora of characters and not a single scene was unnecessary. Amazing world building, could have spent a couple of minutes explaining a couple of things, but at this point I am just nitpicking on the most minute things. Would happily watch it again.
Positives:
The writing feels very natural, cinematography flows well, no unnecessary songs. Pradeep’s acting is really good given that this is his second movie. Loads of comedy that is well-placed and not below the belt. Loved the overall theme of the story.
Negatives:
I would like to say that there have been enough movies on the collective lives of engineering students in India. We need to find new settings for stories. I wasn’t a fan of a few dialogue choices…
The movie sets a beautiful precedent, and sticks to the concept till the end. The opener sets the backstory in the most perfect way. Bong Joon has added his sense of dark comedy throughout the movie.
Robert Pattinson’s performance(s) (pun intended) were amazing in this movie. The cinematography does transport you into a dystopian setting but staying true to the usual hues of Bong Joon.
However, he could have sacrificed some of the comedy for a more crisper edit. The story in itself was a bit predictable.
Micheal Gracey has done an absolutely amazing job of expressing Robbie Williams the emotion and the person. The chimp-like characterization adds to the character. Amazing cinematography, music and screenplay. After the first 10 minutes you forget that there is CGI in every frame of this movie. They have done really well in suspending reality while shooting a biopic.
