- I don't know enough about autism to tell if it's a good representation but Jhilmil does not give a single indication of being over the mental age of 8 at any point in the film. Watching her romance with a grown man with fully adult sensitibilites was unconvincing at best, uncomfortable at worst.

I don't even like Murakami that much and even I hated this completely clinical and sterilized adaptation that completely fails to imbibe any of the emotion and imagination of Murakami's writing.
Aside from all the things that irk me about Murakami - female characters mystified to the point they are dehumanised, a self-obsessed male protagonist, female characters' arcs always culminating on something to do with sex; - Having to sit through a boring script that felt like it was crafted out of a therapy session stretched to its limit on a three hour runtime, was absolute torture.

I miss when nostalgia revisitation was just rearing it's head as a genre and was actually good instead of the horrible vapid culture-bait monster that it has become today.
