Napoleon 2023
For someone who doesn’t really know much about Napoleon, I left the theatre with, still, no idea why his name echoes throughout history. Whatever was left on the cutting floor needs to amount to something substantial for the movie to land better for me.

Lessons of Darkness 1992
It's hard for me to rate documentary movies. War documentaries even more so. And it's unbearable when it's a documentary about the near-destruction of your home. So my 5-star rating merely reflects my affection towards the cinematography -- it feels more like a lively art book. An exceptionally well-crafted photography book.
I look at what happened to Iraq, Afghanistan and the rest of the region, and I keep thinking how miraculous it is that Kuwait and its people got the good side of the coin flip. Not without irreparable casualties, but we're incredibly fucking lucky, aren't we.
