  some time after he died, my mom remarked on my dad’s chewing habit. it triggered a memory of the one time i saw any evidence of that; a single glimpse of a can placed in a coat pocket.

  fourteen years later and i still regularly dream he’s back. returned from a long trip to nowhere in particular. i paused the movie to feed a baby.
