No way to describe this movie other than a fast, campy, greasy watch. This film is the equivalent of scarfing down a jumbo plate of chilli cheese nachos and then fighting the urge to vom when you're done while simultaneously trying to convince yourself that it was enjoyable. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it (I love nachos). This film is excess in every way - the blood, the gore, the sex, the complete lack of direction, but doesn't try to convince you…

Belladonna of Sadness 1973
This is a somber watch. While visually breathtaking and beautiful, it does follow a tormented woman falling into a death spiral after experiencing a traumatic gut-wrenching life event. It took me a bit of time to get used to the way the unfolding of the plot is structured - the static shots, the psychedelic montages, etc.
The art style softens the highly sexual nature of this film. It is through male pleasure that Jeanne loses herself and through male pleasure does she "regain power."
