Oh amazing, emotionally heavy framing, and use of color. This on top of some incredible acting without many words.

Marie Antoinette 2006
Incredible looking movie. The composition! The costume and set design! They’re all excellent and fun. The film presents a mix of courtly intrigue and teen drama, only to be suddenly cut off as the titular subject of the film falls more and more into decadence. The Great Gatsby 2013
Overly literal and over produced, The Great Gatsby (2013) simply didn't hit the same emotions, pull the same threads as the 1925 novel it's based on.
You walk away from the book with a feeling of grief, of love lost, the writing took it's time, lingering on all the painful feelings and temptations of reminiscing. Meanwhile the 2013 film seems to be speeding through things, quickly checking plot points off a list without getting through to the emotional core. Instead, much like Gatsby's futile attempts to impress Daisy, the film relies almost wholly on flair and spectacle.

The Hunt for Red October 1990
Very good and exciting, I like the idea that the soviets listened to no music but their national anthem all day. Loved the constantly smoking engineer, Jack Ryans sweater, the very different feel between sets, especially the Dallas being much more cramped than the Red October.
Also I want to rewatch TNG: "The Defector"
