I wanted to watch this twice before logging just to make sure I didn't miss something- why was this movie crucified by critics? This might be the surest example that some professional critics aren't interested any longer in judging the MCU without bias anymore.
Is it great? No. But is it an entertaining popcorn flick with some fun characters and good performances? Absolutely yes. It is ok to just have fun.
Trying to find something to satisfy the teenagers and the parents and settled on this. I watched it on Hulu, and the movie was plagued by weird ADR and inexplicably random fade-outs.
A little googling and it looks like this is a TV edit of the film rather than the theatrical cut. But this movie was too bad; it's not worth trying to seek out the original version.
Should not have been nearly as good as it was considering there wasn't a single memorable performance from the human cast and the lead (Franco) was a terrible choice.
The critics who panned this movie because the plot was "thin", have clearly never played a Mario game.
If you, like me, grew up playing Mario this movie will be everything. Truly like the game come to life. Special props to Brian Tyler for the amazing Mario score.
