Oh my god this is probably one of my favorite action movies ever. I really like the comic book style framing of every shot (having movement progress you through the story, having the story progress you through the movement, delicious). The color??? The lighting??? The beating up of oppressive fascist assholes? It’s amazing.

Also this movie is definitely rated R for a lot of reasons but the one that stood out most to me was “most realistic sequence of the word “fuck” in a perilous situation.

I recognize that this is straight up Pokemon Tarzan but there’s nothing wrong with that. I think if you’re going to get into Pokemon movies, this is a must-see.

I’m such a fan of a director with an incredibly signature visual style. I know some people hate it but in the way of a Van Gogh or a Warhol— being able to recognize a director by the style of the movie is something I find incredibly special.

I was firstly most impressed by Eggers ability to utilize true dark in film. Usually when a movie is that dark, the obsfucation is more irritating than atmospheric. However, Eggers somehow creates…
