All the stars for Gong Li. No, actually I appreciated other aspects of the movie, although I think the narrative is unnecessarily convoluted, to the point I felt lost in the chronology. When the film ended I was left scratching my head about what I'd watched. Was it all just a depiction of events in the book in the film? Anyway, the film nails the right mood for the story and once again - Gong Li.

The battle of Dunkirk and Operation Dynamo is one of the most fascinating episodes of WWII.
