    Why is this the black sheep of the Coens’ filmography? Because the studio marketed it as a traditional romcom when, in fact, its blood runs true Coens through and through? I’m delighted to finally discover this. This film’s middling reputation preceded it so well that I avoided it for so long, but it’s actually a hilarious war between cynicism and romance loaded with nonsense that would instantly turn off your typical romcom lover.

    Nobody ever says much about Runaway Jury—largely because it’s one of those “pretty good” thrillers that never strays far from its conceit, keeps the pace light, and is loaded with a heavy-hitting cast. Not much here to make it great (comes close with that bathroom fight), but virtually nothing to make it bad either.
