With a phone in my hand, a trembling voice and a script, I finally asked her to be my girlfriend. “Yes” became my favorite word that day. I realize you dont need a romantic, lustful movie to ask a girls out. Sometimes all you need is a subtle movie, some courage and two hearts. Btw, movie’s not that great but its worth the watch.
Solid Korean Horror Film about the Members of a Paranormal Club who go to a Remote Cabin that is said to be Haunted and find out whether there is a Frequency that can be used to Attract Ghosts.
Day 74 of summer of trash challenge
Watch a horror movie that Troy L has deemed to be worth no more than $1
This was a pretty basic paranormal horror movie. It stars Eunji who is a member of Apink who i love so much and consider on of the best 3rd generation kpop girl groups, and Sungyeol who is a member of Infinite who are one of my favorite boy groups ever. The effects in this movie were very cheap, basic nothing really scary. The acting was fine at least.
I woudn't really suggest this movie to a lot of people, if you are curious then watch it, at least it's not really boring.
What a let down! I would expect this level of quality from Hong Kong based horror, not Korean!
Super generic stuff with bad CGI effects, maybe it's time to give the long-haired ghosts a rest. I awarded it an extra half star because they managed to find a hospital, something that seems to elude in many a horror flick.
A paranormal club travels to a rumoured haunted cabin to test if the title frequency can be used to speak with the dead - demonic possession hijinks ensue. 0.0MHz has a very small pool of victims, dispatches that are handled offscreen, substantial debts to Evil Dead/Flatliners, and a groan inducing fake out twist. For these detractors - the character interplay fleshes out likeable victims, digital bird aside - its technical approach is immersive, solid atmosphere - and Jung Eun-ji's reluctant shamen is a really compelling lead.
Perhaps its just that for its generic set-up, 0.0MHz felt more lie a horror film than many of the Korean efforts I've viewed this holiday season - but I had a good time with this. There is certainly better K-Horror out there for those that are new to the country's output, but as recenter efforts go, this is closer to my frequency.
Was it mediocre? Sure. Did it bring anything new to the genre? Probably not. Does it live up to the films it uses for its inspiration? Unlikely.
Does Jung Eun-ji make all of that irrelevant? YES.
Both Eun-ji and Choi Yoon-young (the girl who gets possessed) do a terrific job in an otherwise bland film with janky CGI.
It has a few creepy moments. Yoon-young Choi gives a solid performance. It’s a standard slasher formula wrapped in a possession Korean hair-ghost story.
It’s fine
A generic, silly and slightly scary paranormal horror film in the vein of, say, Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum but not as good (assuming, of course, you think that film is good; I like it a lot). And it reminds me ever so slightly of The Wailing, mainly because of the abandoned house setting (although it’s nowhere near as good as that film).
Some lovey-dovey stuff is shoe-horned in but not so much that it unbalances the thing. It’s pretty well put-together and quite charming (I don’t mean that patronisingly – if this had been an American film, the characters would almost certainly have annoyed the tits off of me.) And I wasn’t bored at all.
So there you have it: an equivocal thumbs-up from me.
This was a fun film. Got me scared a couple times. Wasn’t anything crazy or anything like that, but a wild ride.
I had 8 edibles before watching this. That was a choice.
Si es que esta gente se busca lo que les pasa. A mi si me vais a meter en ese casuto!!!!!
This starts off with so much potential but I think the CGI let’s it down
On my way home from work, I was listening to "Into the Unknown," and thought "I'm going to watch Frozen 2 tonight. Then I thought, "Don't you go soft on me, Wanner. Give me that horror shit you've been holding out on lately!" So I instead opted for this new Shudder original J-horror-influenced K-horror fruit-based sandwich spread.
It's SO close to working - it's got a solid set-up with great atmosphere and characters who aren't completely annoying. And it's unpredictable - you think you know where it's going when it starts, but it then heads in some unexpected directions. And the last act delivers some Raimi-lite insanity that I truly loved, and that almost earned the movie an extra half a star. But there are too many dull moments, as well as several instances of abysmal CG, that drag it down. It's a shame, because this otherwise has the makings of a great ghost story.
