Started with a bang then the whole thing just fell apart. The first story is my favourite so my entire rating is based on that. Pretty good sound design for that phone too. It is an unique movie for its time I suppose.
Though the four stories have undoubted potential, the execution is lacking. This is particularly true of the second tale whose hysterical camerawork and editing render it virtually unwatchable. Even the last chapter – whose ‘virtually empty passenger jet’ premise holds spooky promise – is stymied by contrivances galore and narrative implausibility (and I’m not referring to the supernatural content), and a misplaced belief that dragging out the runtime while building in rote jump-scares is exactly what da kids want and deserve.
Horror anthology from thailand with outdated story and bad cgi. Story 1 & 3 was quite good though.
#11 - Produced by Thailand in the 2000s from Asian Horror Challenge 2023

"4bia" is a 4 segment horror anthology.
The 4 segments:
1. "Happiness" by Yongyoot Thongkongtoon;
2. "Tit for Tat" by Paween Purijitpanya;
3. "In the Middle" by Banjong Pisanthanakun;
4. "Last Fright" by Parkpoom Wongpoom.
1. is about a lonely girl, stuck in her apartment with a cast leg, who trades text messages with a stranger through her mobile phone. Things get stranger when they trade photos.
2. spins a tale of black magic and vengeance for a school kid that was bullied by a school gang (boys and girls).
3. is about a group of 4 friends, who while on a camping trip, have…
Segmen 1 sangat relate
Segmen 2 aduaduaduaduaduuuu tapi mayan lah
Segmen 3 kocak tapi ceritanya berisi baguss
Segmen 4 BANGSAT BAJINGAN!!!!
mid but that jumpscare in the first segment tho.
The first one was my favourite! I loved it. Creepy! The rest were quite good, and of course we gotta have the comedy horror one. Somehow I felt like I preferred the sequel? 🤔 But it was still entertaining and what I wanted.
2.5
The World Is More Than Enough 4: Thriller Night!
6/30 - Thailand
Not really a thriller so much, but a horror anthology. But it has enough thriller bits in it so I'm including it.
Also because I found myself getting nostalgic for the days when I would watch endless Asian horror films and wanted to try and plunge back into a few I missed, with a few rewatches, over the next couple of months. The fact that I do like a horror anthology swung this one my way too.
I will be reviewing it in my own inimitable / annoying way in separate sections.
Loneliness
A fairly standard vengeful ghost tale that runs a bit like a cross between Rear…
they used a PNG for a jumpscare this is peak cinema
segment 2: stupid
segment 1 and 4: good
segment 3: stupidly good
A portmanteau horror anthology from Thailand with 4 segments written and directed by some of the brightest talent in Thai genre cinema. Let’s break them down!
Loneliness directed by Youngyooth Thongkonthun - This was a nice slow start to the film, with a simple premise, mostly one location, a relatable dread and a nice central performance from Maneerat Kham-uan. It’s basically a ghostly fuckboi blowing up her phone and gaslighting her but it’s well shot and it builds it’s tension patiently. It’s a bit long and has a few shoddy effects but it has merit ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Deadly Charm directed by Paween Purikitpanya - The worst segment by a meteoric mile! Farcical overuse of shaky camera aesthetics, ridiculous heavy metal score…
I have tried watching this film multiple times over this past month. I have watched the first scene 4 times before this, once without subtitles (I didn't realize it) and 3 times with. But I always start this late at night (because it's the best time to watch horror movies) and I don't fall asleep watching it but I decide I would rather just sleep now and watch this another time. I wanted to watch this because I was a big fan of Banjong Pisanthanakun and Parkpoom Wongpoom's Shutter (2004) and consider it to be one of my favorite horror movies. I wanted to see another of their work and they are two of the four directors for this film…
