gaspar manages to effectively raise awareness about the disease and the great suffering that it causes in such a raw and honest way and i really respect him for that

It's nice to see how much Gaspar cares about public awareness for issues such as this on the side of his other chaotic features and shorts. This is so so so tastefully done. Wonderfully shot, very patient, in order to let the man's voiceover carry the emotional weight and it does so splendidly. Really impactful stuff.
minimalist gaspar is so good
also much more impactful
i forgot how sad this short is
but important
So honest, so raw, so true!
For eighteen minutes, SIDA is Noe's rawest project to date, as it documents a man's unfortunate experience with AIDS. Respectful, engaging, and tragic, knowing that the victim passed away before the short starts, it's a huge eye-opener.
noe’s typical style is stripped back compared to his usual fare of strobe lights and nauseating cinematography, which makes for quite the emotionally moving short when considering how raw the subject matter is.
tão forte, cruel e triste...(extremamente triste) :(
I have to say, this is one of Gaspar Noe’s more fascinating works. This is a 17 minute short about a guy explaining how he got AIDS, what it is doing to him, and what he has been doing since he got AIDS. The reason I say this is fascinating is because this short is so Gaspar Noe while not being much like Gaspar Noe at all. It is truly astonishing how Noe manages to put his signature nihilism in literally everything he does. I say that as a complement for managing to be able to look at everything your own way and communicate that to the viewer. This short definitely goes into nihilism and Noe’s views of humanity, which…
Gaspar Noe directed and edited a PSA about AIDS and it’s very affective. The victim is real and tells the harrowing truth about what he’s gone through and goes through. Really awful stuff as it’s heartbreaking but really well done.
if i had watched this out of the blue i would bet my soul that it was directed by gaspar noé
and i'd be fucking right
