Guillermo would be proud. And so will probably Tim Burton.
This coming-of-age stop-motion short does a remarkable job, with its designs and morbid tone, of blending elements of Alice in Wonderland and giving it a dark and disturbing twist, but there's also a certain form of "beauty". The cinematography, direction, and overall production design all work together to immerse you in the story from the very first frame. Our protagonist, at least in my case, develops into a captivating figure in a relatively short amount of time.
All in all, a short film where the worst of it all is its short length, as I would have liked to explore more of this world.

We Are One: Film Festival Ranked
The stop motion in this is breathtaking. But the shots as well, the angles and the lighting are all just as excellent. It makes it feel truly cinematic, and it sweeps you off your feet.
This short is eerie as hell. It is thoroughly creepy throughout its run time, and its story being surrounded in a veil of mystery and memories really helps amplify those creepy feelings. One of the best things I have seen from the festival. Effective, short, and mindblowing.
Our demons never really go away.
Dark Mexican stop motion fable. Interior horror.
This short has a couple pacing issues in the middle but it's such a rich. mysterious world thats been created with gorgeous art direction and animation, that I'm happy to see past them. There's so much astounding work here, I can't wait to see more work from Sofía Carrillo.

Y’all ever just kill your family and friends and brush their hair?
Eerie, gothic, beautiful.
Damn, these Mexican shorts have a lot traumatic baggage to unpack, huh?
A young woman tries to escape her past, but the memories, the ghosts, the lost version of herself won't let her go.
Or something like that, you're guess is as good as mine as to what's going on in this frightening stop motion short that spirals into unrefined madness by the time credits roll.
Cerulia has such pained, beady eyes -- they are so sad, so piercing, so haunting! As are the machinations of her strange puppet alter ego, an imaginary friends with ominous motives and bewildering methods.
What is going on in this house? What went on in this house? What or who are these animals?
Who even is Cerulia?
We're not meant to know, we just get pulled…
