  Love the bright colours and the retro Aussie vibes. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Toni Collette sing before. What can she not do?

  If it weren't for the fact that it treats the mentally ill as punchlines, I could probably get behind this. It's trying to be kind, but it doesn't seem to understand that laughing at people in a mental hospital probably isn't kind. Toni Collette singing "Don't Dream It's Over" over the credits, though, just melted my soul, and gosh, the opera was bright and colorful. The film predictably tied the opera plot into the main plot, but it firmly grounded the resolution in a more positive manner, suggesting the fault was in the man who tested his girlfriend and not the girlfriend's reaction to the test. Still, most of the resolutions felt unearned, even if they said the right things…

  It's as I always say, Toni Colette in a really offensive comedy about mentally ill people being weird is better than no Toni Colette at all. Especially when she sings, heart-eyed-emoji.

  Pamela Rabe is heart-breaking, just wonderful.

  Another film detailing how the arts help enrich everyone, no matter their situation or who they are. Sadly, a lot of the scripting here leaves out the compassion and free spirit it tries to embody for quirkiness.  I liked the performances a lot, funny to see Toni & Rachel together in another film, the cover is also scarily close to Muriel's wedding.

  I love movies that cater to the idea that you find your footing along the way, despite any obstacles.

  i knew this was going to be a shitshow and i almost turned it off because i found the beginning to be insufferable, but i'm glad i didn't. there's a lot of quirked up bigotry in here but the movie has its heart in the right place. which is not enough to fix ableism, but there are genuinely good qualities in addition to the cringe

  Some shining moments! You'd hope there would be with one of the finest ensembles in Australian cinema.

  Credits close out with a cringe cover of Don't Dream It's Over by Toni Collette. Nice voice! But just comes out of nowhere.

  Love Greta Scacci and Paul Mercurio cameos.

  You could really cast Colin Hay wisely and do something quite special with him I reckon.

  it’s not an Aussie film day without watching a film that features Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths. this was a great watch… if we didn’t focus on the offensive jokes about mental illness and just focus on the message of this movie & the actors’ performances.

  i like the all star cast: Ben Mendelsohn, Barry Otto (the scene-stealer in this), Pamela Rabe, and Jacki Weaver in addition to Collette & Griffiths were great. also, Collette has a nice singing voice — she sang "Don't Dream It's Over" during the end credits… also, she needs to be in more musicals.

  Cosi at its best is a fine adaption of a great Australian play with a well casted ensemble. That being said, there's a whole raft of changes to the source material that really buggers up a handful of characters motivations or diminishes the themes and sequences. Its heart is in the right place though I dare say that those familar with the original play with find it flawed. If you're not familar with the play, you'll find a charming little film.
  Rent it.
