and here i was thinking wolves was jason momoa's worst film. wow. just.. wow.
"We're human with a bit of tech in us. This thing is tech with a little human in it!"
Six elite hackers are prisoners. They are sent on a mission where they can utilize their skills to reduce their sentences. A derelict freighter ship drifts deep in space and they are tasked with wiping all of it's systems so it can be recommissioned and brought back into service. Once onboard they learn that the ship is inhabited by a rogue AI. A sophisticated artificial intelligence that has decided that it won't allow them to leave the ship.
Stargate: Atlantis is one of my favorite television shows of all time, and my favorite character from that show is Dr. Rodney McKay…
A likeable cast meets flimsy production value supported by a story that barely has an original hook in "Debug" a science fiction-thriller that finds its characters behaving violently thanks to some rogue AI. The narrative follows expected beats but offers kernels of interest that may string an audience along; and the production makes the best of its limited resources. Though the work does little to stand out, it manages to result in a tolerable experience.
To be fair I did not expect a lot when I pressed play as I sat down for a fairly short hop on the plane to Prague. I figured if my eyes shut for a bit then so be it, it’s only Jason Momoa after all.
It was weird watching this a day after the vastly superior Sci Fi Horror EXISTENZ, this film by David Hewlett, of CUBE fame, which I love by the way, has some nifty ideas and a decentish splattering if occasional blood but it lacks budget and meat in the story bones to ever really get going. It never feels particularly fresh and a lot of ideas did seem recycled. The cast was nothing special, at…
I quite like the premise of a group of people trapped on a ship controlled by a evil AI. Obviously it's a lower-budget film but they're able to do some impressive stuff with that low budget. Some of the kills did make me go, "goddamm!" Unfortunately most of the cast don't leave a impression and Jason Mamoa feels really miscast as the evil AI. He's not sinister enough to be threatening or goofy enough to be entertaining. His costume and hair also aren't doing him any favours. I wish they'd gone for someone like Tim Curry or Jeffrey Combs instead.
Ohhhhhhhhhhh the glorious SF junk food 🥤🍿. The plot is beyond terrible. Criminal hackers having to fly through space boarding derelict vessels and deleting "rogue" programs in ships' computer systems. Why you might ask... well the film doesn't really care to get into that. It's funny though watching them run around a ship controlled by a Jason Momoa AI thinking they have any chance to save themselves.
A little bit of #so-bad-its-good flair, but still I'm going to say 'move along, nothing to see'.

I was in the mood for some sci-fi and just happened to see this DVD in the return bin at my local library. That's not how I usually choose a film to watch, but the premise seemed interesting and I've had some good luck with little-known Canadian indie flicks before, so what the heck.
This is writer-director David Hewlett's second feature film, not counting a 2011 made-for-TV movie for which others wrote the screenplay. Here, we follow space shuttle commander Capra (Adrian Holmes) and his crew of six convicted cyber-criminals, who are serving out their sentences by restoring the computer systems of disabled spacecraft.
Far from Earth, they arrive at the abandoned starship Amphitrite, which…
There are some points for the effort, but overall the outcome is pretty bad...
The idea is there, but the acting is the downfall of the movie, the cast is simply amateur and doesn't manage to keep the viewing interest. The effects are very very very basic, I'm incline to say they used just Windows XP! : P
I would forget that if the acting was a little bit polished, but no it's not... : (
A group of young hackers board a derelict spaceship to shut it down only to find themselves at odds with the psychopathic AI onboard it. A cool concept and simple yet effective set design doesn't really help when the writing just isn't that good, it feels like a bunch of Trekkies tried to write a slasher in space. It's never outright bad but it gets progressively worse as the movie goes along up until it's very cheesy climax with some really tacky virtual reality stuff going on. I suspect I am being harder on this than It deserves because it really felt like it had the potential to be a cultmovie. Instead it's just good looking cheese with sub par…
Most of this played out like a really bad episode of Dr Who, I’m a big fan of Dr Who but I do not mean this in a nice way
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
i missed seeing bad movies on cable.
seeing that man punch through that woman’s skull jolted me awake
It looks alright with some decent practical and CGI effects, but lacks enough substance to grab onto. I'm so tired of mystery thrillers where they just sort of handwave away the mystery with some ending action set pieces.
