When I was a teenager, I hated teen movies. I hated how cynically they were marketed towards me, I hated that everyone assumed I would be interested in them, and usually I hated their politics. Really interesting. On one hand it is a look into a world that is so different from the one I live in. On the other, the emotions and concepts brought up in this movie are not only relatable, but are also universal human thoughts.
So what if there's not much of a plot? It's a pleasure to spend nearly two hours in the company of these three cutely unsophisticated teenagers. Adolescent best mates Lucas and Nacho meet a girl, the equally hormonal Andrea, and bumble their way through various social situations together: an awkward afternoon in Andrea's bedroom, an illicit house party where none of the guests show up, and a gig at which the boys' band is performing. Occasional sun-bleached montages give us extra insight into the kids' individual worries, and the film sees them dealing with body issues, experimenting with drugs, and sharing sexual experiences. In the background are their parents, always getting in the way with their tedious demands for help…

this is what teen movies are supposed to be. teenagers are intrinsically awkward, they are ugly, they dress like shit and they believe no one will ever get them. like calvino said “sometimes you feel incomplete and you’re just young” and so many teen movies are colorful and hopeful but hope is such a non-teen feeling. despair! nothing will ever be okay! am i weird am i okay do i fit in am i making clear that i want to die 24/7? you secretly stare at your friends wondering…

La película argentina que más me impresionó recientemente. Toma mucho del cine "indie" de fines de los 90', como el Dogma 95 o -más que nada- las primeras películas de Harmony Korine.
El director adopta este estilo lleno de jump cuts, planos cerrados y actuaciones naturalistas para lograr una intimidad similar a la realidad por decirlo de alguna manera, pero no se trata de un vago retrato documental, sino de una ficción que es naturalista, pero está fragmentada en momentos, en pensamientos, en los detalles intrascendetes que forman parte de la vida cotidiana. Todas estas cosas que para nosotros son insignificantes en nuestro día a día son en las que la película encuentra su belleza.
