I enjoyed watching this, it's not a masterpiece, but it isn't as bad as the reviews claim it is.
The first half was really charming. It shows the life dynamic of a 14-year-old boy who grew up with a spiritualist, hippie mom and their gardener/friend/goat guru/hippie. His dad is not present in his life, but the boy applies and is accepted into a prep school that his father went to. So, his adolescence is now complicated, since he is set to move away from his normal surroundings and family, and is to become closer to his dad.
I found it to be pretty interesting, because I could relate to that feeling of confusion, especially when you have to side with…
Indiequirk dramedy that mostly fails to connect, allowing solid actors too much time to engage in character exercises rather than contributing to a compelling narrative.
In other words, you keep waiting for something to happen. The actors seem like they're having a great time while your attention flounders and you wish you could see a lot more actual goats.
