  sorry pero what the fuck. it’s still difficult for me to assess what’s considered too much when it comes to art. social commentary ba talaga o exploitation na? it was clear that the film was building up to that final shot pero ang insincere talaga ng dating sakin. it's like they're amping up the suffering solely for shock value. overall a traumatic experience, wouldn’t recommend.

  A depressingly defeatist and superficial portrayal of poverty. Matatawag ba na social commentary ang isang pelikula kung non-constructive at non-redemptive ang pagpuna nito sa lipunan?

  Sabi ni Sir Roland Tolentino:

  Sinasabi ng pelikula, walang silbing maging mahirap. Walang silbi ang gobyerno at ang state universities. Walang silbi ang aktibismo. Umuwi at magpakamatay na lang tayo.

  Worse than poverty porn. Which is why I find it amusing that Pamilya Ordinaryo exists in this film's universe.

  ANG SAMA SAMA NG LOOB KO TEKA LANG

  hot take: where exactly does one strike the balance between poverty porn and just being authentic? yes, this movie was disturbing, obscene, and traumatizing, yet it's also very honest. maybe too honest that it makes you uncomfortable. i've seen a lot of complaints against this movie being superficial, or not reaching a "resolution," but do movies always have to comfort you? do they owe you a happily ever after??? sometimes they bother you and keep you up at night, which is exactly what this film has done for me. it doesn't give you a glimmer of hope at the end as you wanted but maybe it wants u to find that within…

  Hindi ko naman itinatangging sobrang daming isyu sa ating lipunan. Kaso parang napaka-exploitative ng dating sa'kin ng pelikulang ito. Iniexploit nito ang mga kalagayan ng mga mahihirap, pero ni hindi man lang para sa mahihirap ang movie na ito. Ano bang purpose ng Iska? Anong gusto nitong ipakita? Ang kaawaan ng mga naghaharing-uri ang mga nasa ilalim at gitna ng tatsulok? Hindi ko maintindihan.

  Ang aktibismo ba ay puro lang welga, chants, at paggawa ng protest signs? Wala ba itong naitutulong sa mga isyung panlipunan? Aaminin kong medyo naluha ako nang mawalan si Iska ng trabaho. Pero bilang isang iska at tibak ay na-offend ako nang biglang nagchant ang mga tibak, habang nasa gitna si Iska. Kasi hindi naman kami…

  If only the truths it wanted to perceive were thoroughly researched and not in any way sensationalised, the entirety of its portrait could've been redeemed. That final shot was utterly devastating.

  Ruby Ruiz's career-best performance is the only saving grace of this abomination disguised as "film." Do we still really need pointless, unempowering, miserabilist dramas in this time and age? I am absolutely disgusted.

  Seeing the last shot of the movie as I was laying on my comfortable bed traumatized me. Is this how life really is for Dongdong? Is this how it’s supposed to be? 

  I had to watch something lighthearted to keep that image away from my mind. I wonder what the sentiments are of those people who are going through the same thing. They will probably feel hopeless.

  Ganon na lang ‘yun? Hindi naresolve yung issue? Maraming mga scenes na hindi naman ganon kaimportante pero sinali pa rin. Masyadong maraming issue pero hindi natalakay. Magulo. Ano ba talaga ang pinaparating ng pelikulang ‘to? Sayang. It had so much potential.

  Siguro ganon nga talaga yung objective nila. Hindi naman lahat ng pelikula…
