The lightheartedness undermines the harsh realities of what's depicted, especially as the sexism is painted as something that's been overcome which is debatable in the present and certainly wasn't the case when this was made in the 50s. Still, it's an interesting portrait of the perceptions of rural life.

Una mirada breve hacia la mujer de campo alrededor de las primeras décadas del siglo 20 en Puerto Rico, enfocándose en sus problemas de opresión derivados del hombre desconsiderado y machista de dicho tiempo y lugar. Un tema aún parcialmente relevante hoy día, aunque la bonita resolución al final es una representación más clara del estado general entre los dos sexos en el presente.

Classic Puerto Rican short film about women vs. the patriarchy. It's not quite as progressive as this description makes it sound, however, but I really enjoed its comedic touches.

Oddly, this was the film I was most excited to see because it was the one that was billed as obstinately feminist and it won a few international awards. This film might be the most offensive of the DIVEDCO films I’ve seen yet.

A little more light-hearted than I was expecting, but beautifully shot. Also this is making me want to revisit an episode of I Love Lucy where Lucy and Ethel go on strike (“we're revolting”) to get more respect at home. Kinda wonder if the outcomes would be similar.
