  Growing up as a kid I remember watching Britain’s got talent this first ever year and remember Paul Potts coming on and winning so this movie had quite abit of sentimental value for me. James corden is great in this, as I did used to love him as an actor in gavin and Stacey and lesbian vampire hunters and think he’s great on the late late show and this feels very much like him but I got to say I don’t like some of his recent films I won’t even say the film 😂😂 this is a great story of his life and a decent movie worth a watch if you liked him on BGT.👏

  A feel-good film, One Chance isn't a memorable one, but nevertheless is a sweet biopic about Paul Potts' road to fame. The events presented in this film bear no real surprises (you can basically read the synopsis of the film off Potts' Wikipedia), but its easy watch-ability, fuelled by its British humour and amusing performances by Corden and Walters, makes it a heartwarming and somewhat entertaining tale to endure. Bearing a certain quality of a TV-movie (esp. as the events were so foreseeable), with some questioning editing choices (regarding the last scene with the cuts between the real vs acted audition) - it does fail on many grounds to create a film that produces a little bit of risk/suspense, plotwise. Potts' voice throughout the running time elevates the film (chills), and the film is far from terrible... but it is undeniably emotionally manipulative, predictable and at times - laughable.

  The lazy title and predictable ending aside, One Chance is a formulaic and cheesy but also sweet, gentle, humorous, touching, charming, irresistible, heartfelt, and uplifting feel-good true-life crowd-pleaser, packed with genuine heart and steered with effortless confidence by James Corden.

  While its undeniably predictable, extremely cliched, a little manipulative, and runs about ten minutes too long, James Corden's incredibly sympathetic and authentic performances and a handful of heartwarming moments make One Chance one of the most enjoyable and heartfelt films to come out all year. I probably would never watch this film again but i enjoyed it in the moment.

  One Chance erzählt die wahre Geschichte des britischen Sängers Paul Potts, der als unauffälliger Handy-Verkäufer in einem kleinen britischen Vorort lebt und über Nacht weltweite Berühmtheit erlangt, als er in der ersten Staffel der Castingshow Britain's Got Talent 2007 den ersten Platz gewinnt. Der Film basiert auf Potts’ Autobiografie und folgt seiner Reise von bescheidenen Anfängen über den schmerzhaften Weg des Scheiterns und der Selbstzweifel bis hin zum triumphalen Moment des Erfolgs. Der Film ist an vielen Stellen emotional und herzerwärmend, auch wenn er in seiner Erzählweise und Struktur etwas konventionell und überspielt bleibt. Vielleicht war so ein Clown wie James Corden, nicht die beste Wahl für eine ernsthafte Rolle.

  i can not give one single justifiable reason why i started watching this movie last night and returned to it this morning. this is definitely a quintessentially british, feel-good movie that my parents would probably love. i did find it painfully obvious though that james corden wasn't singing which repeatedly took me out of the action. there we go, an in-depth analysis of one chance
