  I had to search the crevices of the internet to find this. Was it worth it? erm... Yet, another live-action slop of a decent anime geared towards early adolescent kids minus those adult scenes which the latest Netflix remake of Ranma ½ did quite a decent job of handling.

  Netflix Remake
  This was my introduction to Ranma ½ to which I'm thankful for because I would never be able to sit through the old anime. Ranma is kinda like Jordon Li (Gen V) but mixed in with fantasy martial arts! It was one of my guilty pleasures of 2024. I don't think I will continue with the future seasons of this anime, erm. Also, fuck Shampoo.

  Film live action televisivo fatto con due spicci alquanto improponibile,condito da dialoghi, combattimenti ed internazioni tra personaggi molto legnose ed in generale davvero molto palloso. Sembra una scenetta lunga quasi due ore improvvisata da un gruppo di cosplayers al Lucca Comics con gli effetti sonori di Paperissima Sprint.

  It’s like the best bad movie you’ve ever seen and than the third act hits and they thought the story had any emotional stakes and then the villain is reintroduced and it becomes peak (bad but fun)

  RANMA 1/2 OVA EPISODES
  The straight-to-video anime episodes aren't on Letterboxd so I’ll use this version to review them instead

  When the 12 straight-to-video episodes are better than most of the actual seasons... Despite Ranma’s completely random outfit change.. with very polished (and shockingly even cinematic at times) animation, great opening themes (surprised these even got an original opening... let alone two!) and generally solid episodes themselves, this small bunch manages to shine despite the more obscure and unmentioned release...

  RANMA 1/2 SEASON 1 
  The original anime series isn’t on Letterboxd so i’ll use this as to review all the original seasons instead! 

  I didn’t know/hear anything about this series when I first started but it turned out to actually be really good! Some episodes can be not very good and the final ‘episode’ is just a lame recap.. but besides that it was very entertaining and a very pleasant surprise!

  The original trans awakening manga gets a live action adaptation that’s just as wacky as the manga, quite literally to the point of copying the same visual gags that arguably don’t quite have the same effect as when drawn. It’s very much a product of its time with the original characters based on Hard Gay that are so not problematic at all. It otherwise plays the origin story that has been told time and time again rather straight.

  Yui Aragaki is a bit of an interesting choice to play the Akane character as she very much just plays herself but slowly starts adapting towards the character by the end.

  The beginning of this special follows the first few chapters of the manga/anime fairly closely and has a colorful, goofy, but bargain-basement charm. The original "Madame Camembert" story which comprises the second half is pretty mediocre and weirdly homophobic to boot.

  It's always interesting seeing this stuff rendered in live action, but the strongest takeaway I have is a desire to rewatch the anime.

  no geral é horrível, humor é super sem graça, as cenas de ação horríveis e cheias de cortes, os personagens secundários são tão foda-se que foda-se, as atuações são muito ruins, não recomendo pra ninguém isso mas eu queria que tivesse sido legal, eu gosto da obra e a tentativa de trazer isso pra uma nova geração é boa mas a execução é tão péssima que pelo amor, só vou deixar 1* pq achei algumas atrizes bonitas
