  A punk-rock couple's relationship is tested when the young woman sleeps with a corpse, thus giving her the ROT virus, which decomposes the flesh. The young man contracts the virus as well and all hell breaks loose.

  A solid SOV h̶a̶n̶g̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶m̶o̶v̶i̶e̶ horror flick with lots of (hardcore) punk music, some fun gore effects and a fabulously over-the-top mad scientist (GIVE THAT MAN AN OSCAR).

  Rot is basically a PSA advocating safe sex.

  The slime left in the jar after an evaporation of stagnant pond water. SOV filth sinema in damp woodrotten sheds of grease, smack and human remains.

  Opening with seedy video darkness enshrouding an act of necrophilic corpse defilement, as the suspension of disbelief immediately takes you to ignoring the fact a corpse could never get an erection. An STD stemmed from germ warfare transmutation virus experiments, administered to the corpses by an absolute nutcase necro voyeur morgue janitor, talking to god and the toilet and constantly laughing or crying.

  Pure gutter filth punk rock squalor, extending from living conditions to the flesh. Nihilist anarcho-punk wankers break in to posh mansions, rob, torture and commit arson. Drink driving in a Discharge…

  Rot is the story of Sara & Muzzy. Sara spends her time at a funeral parlor usually just hanging out, until temptation takes over and she has sex with a dead dude, catches a VD, and it’s not any ordinary disease, but one of the govt sponsored viral warfare variety (appropriately called Rot), which she passes onto her bf Muzzy. So the couple spends their remaining days as Floridian gutter punks will: prank calling the white house, drinking bombers of scotch ale, wearing Skinny Puppy t-shirts, grand arson, torturing a mallrat, until anarchy and chaos. I loved the low fi gore gags and it has a couple really good scenes that would be better suited for a better movie. But Rot also spends way too much time with always ranting mad scientist (Joel Wynkoop, giving not the most nuanced performance) behind all the misfortune. Sure, Rot is kinda terrible, but it's also pretty compelling, and very quotable.

  "Hey hippie, fuck you!" Crusty skids making bad choices and running wild with up-tempo blastbeats of profanity laden barking, black grease paint, mohawks, and an unhealthy dose of red tinted latex and oatmeal. It's a hardly subversive tilt-a-whirl vomitorium of comical distinction. Loud and violent. Just the way sov was meant to be.

  Succeeds at completely grossing me out. Great scenester style SOV time capsule and also weirdly accurate and denigrating toward crust punks. Like it FEELS disgusting to watch, the couple in the film are so grimy, the world within the film is in fact rotting but unfortunately it's shot like dog shit and runs 20 minutes past it's prime. No light, camera kind of drifts off of the person speaking, backlighting, audio problems. What's good gets swallowed by technical difficulties and poor instincts. When you have a dynamic actor like Joel D. Wynkoop, it's up to the director to reign them in, like waiting a beat for applause between jokes. I felt a bit assaulted by the excessive use of Joel…

  A punk anthem from the putrefying depths of the city sewers. Everyone is going to rot. Everyone's been fucked by a corpse and are fucking corpses. We are all products of the public skool system, left penniless with only formaldehyde to shoot up. Talking to the toilet can't save us, but...

  "Look, a video camera, we can make a movie!"

  Good: whenever Joel D Wynkoop delivers a monologue 
  Bad: whenever Muzzy talks. The most annoying character imaginable.

  A SOV, punk rock splatter film from FX artist/director Marcus Koch. Some great no-fi gore and punk soundtrack help keep things moving, as does micro budget horror favorite Wynkoop, who is chewing every bit of scenery imaginable. It’s a shame the two leads are the worst, but if your able to get past them this ain’t too bad as far as this sort of thing counts (though I can’t help but think it doesn’t reach its full potential).

  Grimy, sleazy, gross, kinda dumb and punk as fuck. Amateur actors go all in on their performances and no one involved leave anything on the table. Perfect example of why I have such a soft spot in my trashy heart for the SOV genre.
