A lavishly shot stylish action entertainer that gets heavily letdown by the dull screenplay and unconvincing characterizations. The action choreography, visuals and production design are top notch. Apart from them, nothing much works out to its favor, with underwhelming romance and comedy dragging it further downhill. Prabhas and the rest of cast were OK. But on the whole, it ends up a below par show.
that this never, for even one second, attempts to resemble anything approaching reality is both its greatest weakness and greatest strength - there is no emotional depth, the romance is hollow, the characters a step below one dimensional, and even allowing for the awful subtitle translations i experienced the script is half nonsense. on the other hand, you get love songs at burning man with neon pink sunsets, a LOT of slo-mo, ridiculous fun plot twists, fantastical stunts, cartoony fights, and a high fashion sci-fi aesthetic. i predict this is gonna be trashed for being dumb as a rock, but to a western viewer there's something near euphoric about watching an action movie this gleefully ridiculous - while something like…
Shuck shuck!
Jetpack Joyride Baahubali isn't real he can't hurt you....
Jetpack Joyride Baahubali:
OMG HOLY SHIT Y’ALL
This is, like, the definition of a mess, but the literal ambition that this movie has is just so admirable. The way that cinematographer Madhie lit some scenes is honestly next-level stuff
So fundamentally broken at a script level but THERE IS A Scene with two black trucks, Prabhas on a bike, a ton of police cars, a helicopter and JETPACK COPS that is so crazy that it’s worth the price of a ticket ALONE.
dhoom 2 on acid
I've been hearing a lot of underrated praise for this movie so I revisited it again. Rewatch somehow made it even worser, 350 crs for this abomination?? It definitely had a good potential ngl. Sujeet's amateurish direction can be seen on many aspects like unnecessary extravagant scenes(for the sake of budget), horrible CGI, poor editing and screenplay structure, Dialogues were terrible, High budget songs. If some other experienced director helmed up this project it would've been decent for sure.
"It's showtime!"
Imagine 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS, the good parts of FURIOUS 4 (Holographic Detective!), the climax from FAST FIVE, and those towers from FAST SEVEN, all smushed together into one three hour movie that stars the puffy Vin Diesel from XXX 3: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE and you've got yourself SAAHO! Hilarious fistfights, fun musical numbers, more twists than is healthy, and big epic action scenes that involve extras from FURY ROAD.
Oh, and there's a bit straight out of JINGLE ALL THE WAY.
May hold the record for the longest hold-out on a title card ever.
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
definitely not the outright failure the press has painted it as - as a kind of globalized action spectacle i actually much prefer it to something like 1:nenokkadine oor spyder. but the specifics of its failure are i think interesting. the movie's plot, taken literally, is a very familiar masala setup - street urchin child adopted by wealthy father figure, father figure is murdered by scheming family and the child, now grown, must return to avenge this wrong and others committed by the villains. one can easily imagine this as an amitabh or rajini or chiranjeevi movie in the '70s, or a trivikram or vaitla movie in the 2010s (and tellingly trivikam has been accused of plagerizing largo winch). we…
Humorless, charmless and flat.
an interminable, yet fitfully charming travelogue through 21st century action cinema with our boy prabhas; wants to follow in the footsteps of dhoom/fast and furious/abbas-mustan, but instead metastasizes into something far more incoherent and unwieldy.
I mean Hobbs and Shaw has got nothing on this for me. The fast bikes, the rubbery crane, the toy choppers, the trucks, the poor police cars, the jetpacks (?!) all in one sequence. Some of ya'll are really stuck up if you can't enjoy at least some of this.
