  Só para discordar um pouco do Maxime Renaudin (o segredo para uma vida longa é discordar só de gente inteligente; para o resto fica a máxima "not even wrong"), dois herdeiros do Allan Dwan (com certeza involuntários, e provavelmente mais pelas circunstâncias em que se encontraram trabalhando - produção televisiva - que por qualquer ambição autoral) tanto na sensibilidade quanto na técnica (contrabandistas de pequenos filmes íntimos sob a aparência de espetáculos) foram Sergio Sollima (nas adaptações de Emilio Salgari) e John Flynn aqui.

  Fora isso, duas (ok, três) coisas:

  os anos 1990 ainda permanecem quase totalmente secretos…

  A pretty ideal B movie focused only in the stink of betrayal between its many lowlife characters. The cons are less about showmanship than amoral test for the characters pulling it. The script loses a bit of focus in the back half, but John Flynn directs it in that efficient concentrated manner of him making the best of Walken and Bracco dance of seduction and its stacked supporting cast. Scam was made at the absolute last moment before Tarantino made impossible such crime movie with its specific spare virtues could be done on a real budget, but I'm glad Flynn pulled a last of those.

  John Flynn tv movie from the 90s crime flick boom that he knocked out between his Seagal and Freddy Krueger-knockoff studio movies. Can’t remember if this was always a tv movie or if it was dumped to Showtime because Flynn was too based making it, but good stuff regardless. Hard to quite make a case for it as some forgotten masterpiece but has the kind of nice, simple m-e-s that’s at peace with itself in a way similar to Cemetery of Splendor or something. Additionally gains some perversity from having Chris Walken as a romantic lead paired with a sleepy Lorraine Bracco (who could be argued as Bressonian as per usual with Flynn but according to him she was just…

  После того как его первый фильм для кабельного спас невменяемый Хоппер, на второй Флинн позвал Кристофера Уокена, видимо, надеясь на такой же исход. Но провернуть тот же фокус дважды у него не получилось, поскольку Scam - не суровый нуар, а женская история про клофелинщицу с добрым сердцем, которую загадочный незнакомец нанимает ради одного ограбления.
  Больше всего происходящее напоминает экранизацию женского романа, в котором героиню переодевают, стригут и везут на курорт чтобы понять, что она - та самая, но только не качок с челюстью, а зеркально этому противоположный Уокен, выглядящий максимально крипово и странно, правда не достаточно странно чтобы оживить эту скучную и предсказуемую историю мошенников с парой ожидаемых твистов.
  Пожалуй, в этом безопасном приключении, идеально подходящем для обеденного тайм слота канала "Домашний", мне больше всего запомнилось как Уокен ходил купаться в плавках, натянутых до пупка.

  Looks like it was kicked around a Hollywood video for a few years, used to roll joints then copied onto another tape when some Walken fan wanted to see it.

  Despite that the wronged con-woman plot works well for a tired and emotional Bracco, whilst Walken's syntax was made for this sort of dialogue and it's hard to imagine him in that Montego Bay resort talking any other way.

  A twisty, sorta lame little late night TV time waster. Nothing special but it's watchable. Seek out only for Lorraine Bracco, she's a goddamn stone-cold fox in this.

  90’s Miami. yes. and also most was actually filmed in Jamaica
