Akerman's relationship with her mother is just super fascinating-she's the focus of her last ever film-this film it comes off as toxic and a bit too codependent. It honestly affected my enjoyment of this one how INTENSELY passive-aggressive and emotionally manipulative those letters are.

Loved the final sequence here-probably the best shot in Akerman's filmography (at least of the ones I've watched)

You are thinking "Wow this is a really long landmark sex scene that is unstimulated" I am thinking "My guy a pitta with Nutella and butter is NOT a substantive meal what the FUUUUUUUCK is wrong with you you're lucky you get the ride after that pathetic offering of food" we are just built differently

Probably my favourite of Akerman's work I've seen so far. Manages to be super revealing and blunt for a film that's semi-biographical but still a narrative feature. That truck driver she fools around with seems like a creeper though

So this starts off interesting, if derivative, has a twist that's really well executed but falls apart with the remotest of scrutiny and continues down this insane loosening thread the more it goes on. It's not a very good movie.

Nothing about the premise has a solid basis that makes it stand on its own, the cast are either boring or ridiculous, the set design starts off interesting enough especially as you find out more about the compound but…
