I’ll admit I’m biased as I’m fond of the director, but this is a classic western samurai Scottish period piece. More western samurai movies. All the time.

Woman who doesn’t know what the bumble friends app is for or that Bucharest is an excellent city to do stuff in and make pals goes full Hitchcockian keraaazy when she gives up her entire life for her shitty boyfriend who works 101 hours a day and has the personality of a toilet roll tube.
It’s a densely referenced piece, articulate in its tone and intensity. Burn Gorman’s accent is dreadful but the cinematography is lush. Turns out she’s not crazy after all (boom!)
Elvis the cat is an absolute pain in the arse.
Moral of the story - get curtains.

The best jumpscare since Stig Of The Dump slid into frame in Mullholland Drive.
