  Batman Begins 2005

  ★★★★★ Rewatched 24 Jan 2025

  It's hard to put into words what it was like seeing this back in 2005. It was everything you could ask for from a Batman movie but also things you didn't even know to ask. The downside to this being received so well at the time was the slew of superhero origin stories that would follow. I'm glad we have somewhat broken away from that now.

  This basically made Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan a household name. The cast here…

  The Heroic Trio 1993

  Only the second Criterion movie I've bought!

  Knew nothing about this going in and it was......wild. It felt like I was watching a music video from the 90's and the entire thing was a fever dream lol but other than the visuals, I found the story a little hard to follow and didn't understand all the character's motivations (I attribute this to watching it subbed and maybe not grabbing all the vital information).

  Criterion did an amazing job remastering this…

  I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. Shyamalan was in rare form here by not only delivering a suspenseful, taut thriller but a sometimes funny, sometimes tragic film.

  I am now very upset that Josh Hartnett basically disappeared from movies for like 15 years. What the hell man, you were depriving us all of these kinds of caliber roles? Keep it going Josh!

  I saw this at a movie tavern and while that hasn't always been my favorite way to experience a movie, the vibes were pretty good.
