I enjoyed the movie but I don’t think they needed to make it, to be honest.
There are only so many ways one can detail the grief that comes with having an absent father. Maybe that was the point of the film, actually; to tell a story that has been dug into the ground almost ad nauseum, but from the director’s own life. Maybe making this was meant to be more cathartic than a performance.
