The Local Stigmatic 1990
Truly truly nuts. This has to be seen to be believed.
I’ve had a long time fascination with this play, and particularly this absolutely bizarre pet Pacino project film version, in which he delivers one of the most shamelessly bad accents ever committed to celluloid. Won’t someone think of the DAWGS.
Also, on what planet is this meant to look like London? I cannot name a film with more badly chosen locations.
I’ve been planning a loose interpretation of this…

Not much to say about this that hasn’t been said. Still in my all time top 5. First rewatch in a couple of years.
Stuff that stood out this time:
-How funny it is. The Palentine office banter, the batshit cabbie diner chat, Keitel’s Coney Island Horse, and the comment the gun guy makes when Bickle tries the holster on 😂
-I will never fail to be amused by De-Niro’s switching haircuts.
