a frustratingly human story that was nothing but real and personal.
sadly i just kept questioning its portrayal of heritage as i do with other films that somewhat center themselves around diaspora.
also i think kieran plays the ignorant american character a little too well

I'm Still Here 2024
coming from a country that also suffered from military dictatorship with many families suffering from mass surveillance, kidnapping, and torture, this film felt all too familiar. to this day, the philippines has yet to fully acknowledge that era, so i deeply empathize with this film and the people of brazil, and understand how important our memories of these events are.
i felt nothing but an overwhelming sense of dread throughout the entire film and was on the verge of tears at every minute. i can only describe this movie as "powerful".

Moonlit Winter 2019
loud during its most quiet parts.
such a touching story about lost love, but ultimately about loneliness and how many of us, especially queer women, isolate and punish ourselves from acceptance. truly a tender film with its most intimate moments coming from lingering stares and silent exchanges, purposely holding back from wanting to say more.
moonlit winter teaches us that the snow inside ourselves will eventually die down ♡
