    I think this film was done a disservice when promoted as a comedy, when it is very obviously meant to be a drama. The pastor is not meant to be sympathized with, and we see this in the way the first lady slowly unravels with frustration and anger. The ending also highlights the Christian community’s insistence on being in denial whilst fully knowing the truth in order to soothe themselves and the relationship they’ve built up with God.     I first watched this movie years ago, but completely forgot how insane it was from start to finish. It certainly was something I wasn’t expecting from Ryan Reynolds either, who, for once, actually offered an interesting performance.

    Despite the shaky acting, I thought this was solid for a short movie. If it was longer, there could have been a deeper exploration of the characters and their world. The ending was so incredibly heartbreaking, and despite my stating the acting was shaking, the actors did remarkably well.
