Didn’t know anything about Leonard Bernstein’s life or career before the movie.
Found a very sad and tragic story, with conflicts of emotions, sexuality and commitment.
The scene portraying Bernstein conducting the orchestra in the cathedral was the standout moment, showing how someone talented and truly gifted getting lost in the music.
A large focus is on the Bernstein family as well as his wife Felicia who becomes a passenger in her own marriage.
But when push comes to shove…
Wasn’t sure what to expect but came away smiling.
Feel good movie where the musical numbers don’t feel forced or out of place.
Really loved the setting and style, as well as having stand out performances from Keegan-Michael Key and Timothée.
Felt like a much closer ode to the Gene Wilder original than Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the character.
All in all very much worth the watch, laughed more than I expected to and not to spoil anything the end wrapped everything up in a very nostalgic bow.
