Bekas 2012
Not focused on the grim life in a war-torn country, the film is about life through a child’s eyes. Its unique premise is engaging & heartwarming. Though the story focuses on the children, other minor characters leave lasting impressions & help define the multi-dimensional characters of the children. The amateur child actors deliver masterclass performances. Their sweet innocence, raw emotions, happiness over simple things, carefree spirit, & brotherly love make viewers root for them.

Ichi the Killer 2001
Takashi Miike crafted a movie with bizarre disturbing elements, blunt social commentary and extreme violence that I ended up having a love-hate relationship with it.
Ironically, I'm satisfied with its insanity and brutality. It's a must-watch for hardcore horror hounds like me, just be sure you have your barf bag with you. Recommended to audiences with weird tastes in cinema. Watch at your risk!

A Separation 2011
The film isn't merely about the separation of a couple but a separation of truth from lie, religion from tradition, filial piety from obligation, and gender equality from sex roles.
Asghar Farhadi pens and helms this emotionally rich drama with a provocative plot showcasing the complexity of contemporary Iranian society. A Separation is a riveting story with twists and turns to mirror how religion, moral, social, cultural, religious, class divides, and tradition makes or breaks a family.
