Probably my favorite Nosferatu / Dracula adaptation, but like all adaptations, it really slows down for me when Dracula/ Orlok leaves his castle. Maybe I just don’t love the Dracula story…?

Lost Highway 1997
Potentially my favorite visuals from Lynch. You really feel like you’re being hurled into the darkness, never certain what you’re going to crash into. Lynch’s painter side feels extra prominent here, which as a painter myself is quite inspiring

Air Bud 1997
Air Bud revels in its own sadistic deconstruction of childhood faith. Look no further than Buddy revealing himself in the basketball court of an abandoned church, symbolizing the absence of the old gods. If a basketball-playing dog is all a child needs, why believe in a higher power? Have the old gods left, or merely faded into obscurity?

Dark Water 2002
This movie is quite literally dripping in sadness. It’s not scary in the traditional sense, but the movie does an amazing job in making you feel weighed down by tragedy. There isn’t much relief either, as the movie ends on a sad note. Overall a solid film with a viscerally atmospheric tone.
